The Taylors of Harrogate Out of Home Team was out in force last week, attending the Top 50 Gastropubs event at Escape to Freight Island in Manchester as proud official tea and coffee sponsors. The event, which we sponsored for the fifth year running, highlights the best gastropubs the UK has to offer, voted for by industry experts. Almost all the nominated gastropubs were in attendance, making for an electric and fun-filled atmosphere.
Guests were treated to an incredible three-course lunch, crafted by Steven Smith of the Freemasons at Wiswell. Yorkshire Tea even managed to make an appearance on the menu, with diners treated to a dessert of meringue pie with Yorkshire Tea poached rhubarb sorbet and purée with blood orange granita.
Amidst all the fun was the important task of announcing the rundown of the Top 50 Gastropubs. Television personality Angelica Bell presented the awards, with the top spot going to The Unruly Pig, Woodbridge, and second and third places awarded to Parkers Arms, Clitheroe, and The Star Inn at Harome, respectively.
Our very own Greg Harvey, Out of Home Sales Controller, was also given the honour of presenting the award for Best Chef, which went to Michael Wignall of the Angel at Hetton.
